Oil Filter Recall

Got home this evenning and was surprised to see a small box from J.D. in my mailbox. My first thought was that I had broken my self imposed rule of no drinking and shopping on-line!! Anyway, opened the box and found a new oil filter and a $50 coupon. Literature inside the box says that Deere has updated the filter and that I should replace it immediately. The new filter is about a 1/3 as long as the old filter. Anyone have any input as what the problem was?

I think the oil filter was still having leak problems. I read a bulliten about it today. This filter feels much heavier than the old one.

Old filter may leak.
This "new" filter is supposed to be a high performance filter specificaly designed for the high performance of the 850i's engine. No need to change the oil. Just spin the old one off, new one on and top off oil as needed. 50 buck coupon is only good for oil, oil filters or labor to change oil or oil filter.

The longer filter will definitely make it easier to service!! I'm guessing I can actually get a filter wrench on it now!!

And it's lightly textured! Maybe we can get it by hand?

What is the JD p/n for this filter? Does the 850 use the AM107423 or the AM125424? The longer version of AM125424 is AM101207.

The new number is AM145365. ONLY use that filter. I think it was the 423 filter that was originally on it.

I looked at 850 manual and saw this...it is a bit more expensive.

AM125424 Oil Filter | End Serial: 030000 $10.80
.. AM145365 Oil Filter | Begin Serial: 030001 $18.15

I got a trail model last February, and turns out it had a faulty front upper a-arm with a crack in it NOT from me, and the next day im driving through our field and the a-arm broke in half, front end dug in the ground and flipped end over end, also breaking my collar bone
