Unhappy Gator wont shift

Hello.
I Am hoping to find some help! we sold are 825i gator.
Then in a couple days the guy said it wouldn't shift anymore so he
brought it back, now the only way to get it to shift is to open the bed and hammer on the
shift lever coming out of the transmission. I talked to are local dealer and a said to put wd40 on the shaft
coming out of the transmision and wiggle it back and forth, but that doesn't help then I took the bolt and little plate
holding that shaft in place and pulled the shaft out about a inch and it turns freely! if you have any suggestion on how to fix this would
be greatly appreciated!!

If you plane on fixing yourself, you might want to consider purchasing the workshop manual.

Inside on this shaft there are two spring pins (one inside the other) and a shift fork. Perhaps these pins or the fork broke.

I'm guessing you'll have to disassemble to investigate.

You might want to search the forum as I vaguely remember someone having a similar problem.

Report back what you find.

Yes, the shift lever will move a little bit but wont go
into gear. So you have to go to the back and hammer on it hard!

Have you unhooked the cable from the transmission and seen if it shifts making sure of any cable problem.
