855D Brakes

Got motor rebuilt, runs like a champ although I am going to have to replace the glow plugs.

Issue -While it was sitting up the front calipers froze up @%!$#!!

PIN 1M0855DSKBM017438 because there are two options for calipers.

$175 each from JD dealer. They are corroded from Salt, etc (came from VA), so I am going to have to bite the bullet unless someone can come up with a place to buy them cheaper.

Please help.

Well...I installed new calipers on the front and new pads all around. Almost $400 later the brakes work great!

Did the piston seize in the caliper? Did you check to see if they made a rebuild kit for them?

Were they at least painted red?... Painting any caliper makes it cost 10x more.

Glad to hear you're at least up and running.

It came from a University in Virginia so it has a little rust. I think the pistons on the front were so corroded they stuck the calipers. I decided to replace the front calipers and pads and I just cleaned the rods up and reused. I did not replace the calipers on the back. I just removed the pistons and cleaned them up and replaced the pads. I did not replace or have the rotors turned. They were not bad just rusty. Now that I have run it a little they cleaned up just from the friction of the pads.

I did try to find a rebuild kit with no luck and my brother advised against the rebuild, said it required special tools and I would not be satisfied with the results.

The good news is that issue is resolved and in the rear view mirror.
