850d driveshaft

Hello, I recently acquired a 2007 850d XUV, it unfortunately is in need of a driveshaft. Does anyone know of someplace that produces an aftermarket one? I have found many front axles for a quarter of the cost than from Deere. I would really like to find a driveshaft for less than 600.

850d driveshaft

Have you checked with local driveshaft repair shops. Perhaps they can rebuild the existing driveshaft?

Please report back on your findings and repair solution.

Good luck

Out of curiosity, can you post a picture of the old drive shaft and ID what is wrong with it?

$620 is a bit outrageous for a driveshaft, but feel good you contributed to moving JD stock price upward a few points. JD has worked very hard over the years to become a monopoly or single source of all replacement parts. With no competition they are free to charge whatever they want. It wouldn't be bad if these ultra premium priced parts came with a lifetime guarantee.

I will try when I get it taken out this weekend. Of the 2 cv joints in the driveshaft at least 1 is bad with huge play in it and a disintegrated boot. When I purchased this machine it had been setting for many years, so most things rubber have deteriorated. The rebuild shop told me that Deere had replacement pieces locked down.
