Gator 550 - are these ok and what year?

I found a used Gator 550 in an auction. I don't know the year but the ID number is 1M0550TBHFM041888.

Says it has low hours, 125. Has a boss plow which is probably a $1K option

I've heard about issue with shift levers on the 550's but this looks like a nice unit with a cab too.

Current auction price is 4K but there is another week or two in the auction. I thought that I've heard about issues with the 550 when I've spoken to dealers about this model but I didn't know if they were trying to steer me into something more expensive.

Any thoughts or experience or is there a better place to post this question on gator forums? Thanks, moday

So many questions, so much time !! Does it run ??? Have you seen it in person ?? The hour meter maybe works, maybe not !! A Boss plow is at least $2k installed and the cab if JD is spendy as well. I'd want to go over it in person before making any bid let alone a blind bid !! Caveat Emptor !! Craig

Sorry I can’t look up the year on this for you, perhaps @jd772 can look the Date of Manufacture up for you in the warranty system? he also might be able to find any warranty work done on the Gator?

Boss is a great plow, do you know if the plow is winch or hydraulically operated and if the plow is a V blade or straight blade. The reason I ask is the V setup is heavy for this machine. Don’t be discouraged if this has a V plow as you can easily sell this plow if you are successful in your bid.

The 550 has an inherent primary clutch issue, which can be easily corrected for less than $250.00

Post photos if you can!!
