Suspension adjustment?

Hey folks,

I recently bought an 855D and noticed the springs (struts?) have an adjustable bit. Mine is on the lowest. Two part question:

1) What exactly does that thing do? Stiffen the ride or lift the vehicle as well?

2) How do I adjust it? I haven't tried yet, but best to ask...do I need to get the load off the spring, or can I just crank on it?

Here is a link to a Operators Manual for the 855d.

I believe there is instructions on adjusting the pre-load on the shocks.

It generally helps to have wheel droop as much as possible to make it easier to spin the adjustment (less spring force acting on it).

Curious which shocks you have.
