Test John Deere electric turf Gator motor

My friend gave me a John Deere Turf Gator. He said someone brought it in the shop to see about getting it fixed they told them needs new batteries to start off the customer said no just keep it and they bought a new one. Someone removed the batteries and they cut off the connection instead off disconnecting them. Is there a way to test the electric motor without buying all the batteries? Don't want to spend alot money on batteries if the motor is bad. Any help is appreciated thank you

Have zero understanding of e gators but how many pins go into the motor, might give us a clue what to look for.
Otherwise see if you can haul it to someone who has an e gator or anything with a similar amount of volts and amps and just jerry rig something with jumper cables.

In my position though, i would give my left leg for one of those e gators.
You can make a sprocket or pulley on that dif and do an amazing engine swap.
