First post as new member!! I just got this Gator for elderly neighbor and it probably has no more than 300-400 hours on it. I've been changing oil etc. but have notice when I go to stop suddenly or on a hill the brakes make a lot of grinding noise. Almost sounds like a vehicle when the pads are gone and you have metal to metal. I've read the trouble shooting tips and it says to change the transaxle oil. I will pick some up on the way home but is there anything else I should look for regarding this issue? Any filters, etc..? Thanks for any help.

The Tech Manuals all say that when the brakes make a grinding or squealing noise, it’s time to change the transaxle fluid. When I first rescued my 94 Gas 6X4 the brakes sounded awful. I found that little tidbit about changing the transaxle fluid and it did the trick. Noises went away ! Make sure and only use JD Hyguard fluid that is available at any JD dealer. It’s not hard to change and it will stop all the noise.
