My 6X4 gator will not crank at all and I get no sounds of any kind. Battery is new, fully charged, and connections are good. I have done voltage checks on the battery, starter relay, radiator fan, voltage regulator, and key switch. All successfully reading 12v when off. When I turn the switch to run, I get ~0.5v at each. I've also checked the diff lock switch, parking brake switch, fuel pump, ignition module, and coils, and they all reading ~0.5v when key is in run. I replaced the key switch and I am getting the same results. The only thing that works is the dump bed and headlights-- dash lights don't work at all either. A few months ago I installed a new starter and starter relay. I've been following the diagnostic instructions from the manual and it says that it's likely the key switch. Is it possible that I bought a faulty new switch or should I be checking something else that I missed?

Look up videos on voltage drop test for starters. This test will check wiring under load and you’ll find the problem.
Only 1 strand of wire is needed to show 12 volts but once electrical load is applied this single strand will don’t be capable of carrying the load.
during the test pay attention where probes are placed.Example: if it says battery post make certain to be on post and not terminal… Battery post to terminal is already a potential location of poor continuity. Under load the voltage should Be zero, but if greater than 0.25 it’s worth investigating. Very effective test for checking Higher amp circuits when the traditional test you performed passes.

I very much appreciate the voltage drop testing recommendation; however, when I began testing the motor cranked. I hadn't done a thing, which indicated that my problem is very likely intermittent. I went ahead and started testing anyway, checking to see if there were noticeable drops between components. The machine stopped working again along the way and it made it quite challenging to locate the problem. I later noticed that the main loom was pulled fairly tight against a sharp corner around the parking brake bracket. I readjusted the loom and installed padding between the loom and the bracket, and the Gator cranked again. Dare I say that so far it seems to be working consistently again, but I'm not confident that the loom was the actual source of the problem. I guess I'll find out in short time. Thanks again for the help!

Hows it been working?

I'm afraid to jinx it, but the Gator's had zero issues since. I suppose that the tension on the wire loom may have been the problem all along. Thanks for checking back and the help in this forum.

I think you’re just kicking the can down the road and will strike at the most inopportune time. Wire doesn’t stop working when in tension. There needs to be some disruptions in the path.
This would be a great time to conduct a wiggle test or open the loom and look for visual evidence.
Good luck!
