Going to install a 1-1/2" gauge trio (oil press, coolant temp, volts). This is going to be all electrical mainly because I couldn't find a gauge set with a long enough cap tube and the gauges are small but easy to read at a glance.
So, wondering if anyone has installed a temp. gauge (mechanical or electric sender) on their gas engine, and where/how it's tapped in. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

On some gators two temperature sensors are used by the factory. One functions as a switch and the other with variable output. Probably can tee into either one. One is usually located near the thermostat, but I don't have the specifics on your model.

Thanks. I'm currently snowed and iced in. Can't make it to the shop. I'll post back when able.

Update:
I located a good place to install the temp. sending unit - in the bypass hose between the thermostat and coolant pump. I conjured up this adapter to make it work. It's a 5/16 stainless compression tee. The top nut is drilled and tapped 1/8 NPT, and the bore is drilled out to 3/8" to accommodate the sending unit probe. The nut is sealed with an O-ring and when tightend lets the probe extend about 1/8" into the flow across the tee. A tab is soldered to the tee for the ground wire. The tubing is 5/16" steel brake line. Being that the engine is aluminum I tried to keep dissimilar metals to a minimum, the brass sending unit and stainless being the most cathodic. I may redo this with a steel tee, but this is what I had on hand.

Constrained by lack of space, I had to remote mount the oil pressure units. I used BSPT to NPT and NPT to BSPT adapters. Engine has 1/8" BSPT pipe threads. Kept the idiot light switch just because. I was in a hurry and forgot to solder a tab on the tee.
