Adjusting Front Shocks

Hi, everybody! I recently added some weight to front of my XUV 550 in the form of a Warn VRX 35-S winch, heavy duty mount plate/receiver, and fairlead plate. My winch has synthetic line, but is still a hefty piece of equipment.

I was wondering if all of this extra weight warranted bumping the adjustable front shocks up a notch or not? If so, is there anything else that should be adjusted if I turn the shocks up a notch or two? I don’t want my tires wearing funny. Thanks.

Probably not a bad idea to adjust the shocks a bit, you also might need to adjust the toe-in compensate for the change in the momentary loading of the spring.

Thanks Brad! I’m wondering if bumping the front shocks up one notch will really mess with the toe-in. I guess I’ll just have to measure.

If anyone has a similar unit with a factory installed winch, if you could post a pic or tell me where your shocks are set from the factory, it would be appreciated. I’m just curious if the factory used a different shock setting on winch equipped units.

Adjusting shocks can affect camber, not toe-in. Even so, not enough to matter. BTW the 825, 855, 865, etc large Gators have toe-in only adjustment up front and camber only in back.

Thank you, Seabee! I always get those dang terms switched around in my head. I think I’ll go ahead and bump it up a notch in the front end.
