To make my 620i street legal where I live, I have to have:

1. Seat belts
2. SMV sign
3. Horn
4. Headlights
5. Brake Lights
6. Tail Lights
7. Turn Signals (front and rear)
8. Flashing hazard lights

I wasn't able to find an aftermarket light kit that didn't require cutting into the factory wiring, so I bit the bullet and bought everything from my local John Deere dealer. They researched what was needed and sold me two kits, BM25548 Light Kit for $352.03 and BUC 11245 Harness Kit for $173.34. With tax my all-in cost was $572.64. Very painful. However, the kits are good quality and plugged directly into the factory harness without having to cut or splice a single wire.

The instructions provided with each kit were ok but not perfect. The small black and white pictures were often not clear enough to be helpful. The kit fits multiple models besides the 620i, so some of the pictures and procedures were different from what was shown. However, the new harnesses use the same color wiring as the factory harness. This helped when near the end of the install I had two plugs and one outlet. The factory wiring to the outlet was black and yellow. One plug had black and yellow wires and the other had blue and green, so I connected the one with black and yellow wires and everything worked properly. There were a few plugs on the new harnesses that weren't needed and didn't hook up to anything.

Things I learned along the way:

1. The harness to the taillights is barely long enough. I had my bed up when connecting to the factory plug near the engine, and that shortened it a few more inches.
2. The new harness adds a lot of new wiring up front, plus plugs, flasher, etc. I took my time and zip tied everything in place so that the wiring was best routed and protected, only to find the plastic under hood storage compartment won't fit now that the wires are in place. I don't use it and left it out, but something to keep in mind before tying everything down as I did.
3. There is no turn signal indicator and the flasher makes no sound, so I might have to add a light to the dash that blinks with the turn signals.
4. The brake light switch mount is the lowest quality part of the whole kit. Hopefully it lasts a long time. But if not, I'll try to come up with something better.
