2003 Gator 6x4 gas engine temperature light comes on. No visible overheating. Radiator hoses do not get warm. Thermostat and water pump function. Replaced coolant temperature sensor in radiator. Removed radiator and flushed and tested fan motor and that works but fan never seems to turn on when engine is running. Any suggestions?

The temp switch on your radiator is for the fan. Your engine temperature idiot light switch is in the thermostat housing on the rear cylinder head. Your radiator hoses should get warm, at least to 140°F. The small by-pass hose from the t'stat to the coolant pump will be the first to get warm and maintain regulated temperature. Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open, or has been removed.

Also keep in mind the two sensors close the contacts at different temperatures. The one for the fan comes on before the instrument panel light.

I’ve had this with my 6x4. Need to bleed air from hoses and add coolant at the bleed hole on head. Mine just kept having light come on till a Gator expert told me to drill a 1/16 in hole in thermostat to allow air to bleed out. My light has not come since I did this. Good luck.
