My new TX is giving me whiplash. (Kawasaki V-Twin) When starting from idle, it is almost impossible to get moving without a big surge of power. I've fiddled with the idle screw and have sprayed silicone on all of the throttle linkages, but nothing seems to help. I'm wondering if it's a carb adjustment thing. I've only had it a couple of weeks but I think it's done it since the beginning. I was just thinking I hadn't gotten the hang of it, but now I'm thinking something is not quite right. I called the sales guy and he was mystified, but said to bring it in for a warranty repair. I will do so, but just wondered if somebody here had a quick-fix idea.

Hard to tell because it all happens at once, but I think the engine RPMs come up suddenly, then the transmission engages with a jerk. Engine makes a sudden acceleration 'pop', then transmission engages. If I press accelerator very very very slowly, engine ramps up slowly and transmission engages normally - but it is hard to do it slowly enough to prevent the neck-snapping jerk.
I took it back to the dealer and mechanic (whom I trust) says he cleaned and adjusted carburetor and replaced fuel with fresh, but I'm still seeing same behavior. Got the "they all do that" speech. He said it is running like it is supposed to. He said once I get some hours on it, the drive belt will loosen up and won't grab quite as hard. I've tinkered with throttle adjustments and spring adjustment on accelerator, but not seeing much change. Guess I'll give it some time, but as best as I can recall, my old TS (single cylinder Kawa) never did this. He says with the v-twin Kawa and improved clutch on the TX, it has more low-end torque.
My colleague is probably right.
Yes belts will wear and probably engage smoother over time.
Also sometimes the belts can be a hair shorter or longer.
If its a bit on the short side it could cause this aswell.
And yes these are happy little puppers with a lot of torque for the engine size.
You jusr need some bricks in the rear to slow it down ?
But yes i have seen these with 1200 kilogram in the trunk and still pull like a champ
